Oranmore Castle, a 15th-century tower house on Galway Bay, has a history rooted in the De Burgo/Burke and Clanricarde families who used it as a stronghold. During the Confederate Rebellion in the 1640s, it played a key role in defending Galway by provisioning the besieged fort from the sea. After being abandoned in 1853, it was restored by the Leslie family in the 1940s and remains a privately owned, atmospheric building known for art, music, and history.
