Sometimes, the wonderful moments of our lives are too precious to dilute with description. The horrible ones – too painful. And so, I have mostly fed on the in-between – It’s a Leitrim thing. Don’t go too far North or South. Or to put it another way – when my mother was in the kitchen, the less ingredients she had, the more adventurous she became. We were always delighted to hear her say, ‘There’s not a thing in the house for this evening’s tea’. That’s when the banquet would begin. So, without a Nobel Prize or term in jail to my name – I too, have to explore the cracks and crevices of my uneventful world in order to provide spark. ‘MY TIME’ could be anyone’s, but it’s not. It’s mine – no head nor tail to it. A world that probably only exists in the longing for something else or a reason to step out from the drip. And yes, there is pain and great joy in here. But I’ve disguised them both, to save our blushes.
