Yvonne Watterson

Address: Mexico

Yvonne Watterson is from Antrim, Northern Ireland but lived for nearly 30 years in Arizona where she worked as a teacher and school principal. She began writing in 2011, after a Stage II invasive breast cancer diagnosis sent her searching for answers online. What began as survival grew into a practice of storytelling, with her work appearing in The Irish Times, Irish Central, Reading Ireland, and other publications. She is the author of Documented Dreams, a bilingual collection of letters from her advocacy with immigrant students, and has collaborated with Stephen Travers, survivor of the Miami Showband massacre, on his book, The Bass Player. Yvonne’s social justice work has been recognized with, among others, the City of Phoenix Martin Luther King Jr. “Living the Dream” Award and the YWCA Tribute to Women Social Justice Leader Award. Since 2020, she has lived in Mexico with her partner and their two lucky dogs. Source: Commons
