Sean Brett

Born on a tiny farm in the middle of nowhere in Co. Mayo in 1960, Sean Brett always said he was born lucky. But looking back now, you’d be hard-pressed to see where the luck was. He had dyslexia and ADHD. He was terrible at school, terrible at sport, and had zero confidence. He left school and bounced around aimlessly from job to job for several years: farmer, caretaker, digger driver, painter and coalman. But he did have a willingness to work and eventually pulled himself together, founding Steeltech Sheds in 1999. He realised that making money wasn’t actually that hard. You could start from nothing – you just needed an idea. Over the past twenty-seven years, Steeltech has built and sold more than €300 million worth of sheds, and now employs over 200 people, all over Ireland and the UK. Sean was an EY Entrepreneur of the Year finalist in 2015. For years he worked with no strategy. All he knew is that he wanted to make money. He made millions without really knowing what he was doing. He could have made billions if he had a plan, a bit of direction. The Art of Making Millions is the mentor Sean wished he had when he was younger.
