Ronnie McGinn
Address: | Cork |
Ronnie McGinn was born in Inniscarra in county Cork and grew up in Frankfield, Cork. He started writing poetry in primary school at the age of nine but was discouraged by his Christian Brothers teachers who told him that “Only fools wrote poetry”. However, when he attended Newbridge College, the teachers there encouraged him to write. His subsequent career saw him in a variety of commercial jobs, but he always kept writing and also became involved in the music scene. In the 1990s, his career path led him to journalism in Cork and started a junior writers group at Douglas Library in Cork.
