Melosina Lenox-Conyngham (1941 - 2011) grew up as a tea-planter’s daughter in Sri Lanka (then Ceylon). She was evacuated with her mother to Africa during the war, where she acquired at an early age a taste for travel and an interest in the curiosities of life.
