Maurice Semple

Maurice Semple was born in Galway in1917 into a family that had been established in Galway for more than 400 years. One of three children, he commenced his working life as an apprenticed solicitor and eventually founded his own legal practice. He developed a keen interest in photography and was very aware of the importance of photography in a local cultural context. He had several books published that centered on Galway city, the Galway countryside , and its people. He passed away on April 2nd, 2000.
