Lorraine Mulholland is from Co Antrim in Norther Ireland. She studied at Queen's University, Belfast where she read Zoology for one year, then Divinity for 3 years. She has worked as a Secondary School teacher as head of Religious Education and also taught History, Geography, and Personal and Social Education.
