John Broderick (30.07.1924 - 26.05.1989) was born in Athlone, County Westmeath. Educated in Ireland he lived in London, Rome, and Paris. He was elected a member of the Irish Academy of Letters in 1968. A neglected but powerful writer, he was the author of six novels set in the Irish midlands. He died in Bath in 1989.
