Janet Liu

Most people know Jianan Liu as Janet. Originally from China, she graduated from the National College of Ireland in 2015 and began her career as a fund accountant, but her lifelong passion for food inspired her to make a leap of faith in 2020 and pursue a career in the culinary world. Drawing on her family’s deep roots in the food industry, Janet is dedicated to sharing authentic Chinese flavours and traditions through her cooking. In 2022, she won first place on the TV show Takeaway Titans, competing against 15 outstanding restaurants from across Ireland and Northern Ireland. The experience strengthened her commitment to excellence and inspired her to continue showcasing Chinese cuisine to a wider audience. Janet recently opened YiBU, her new restaurant in Dublin, continuing her mission to celebrate Chinese food, culture and hospitality while creating memorable dining experiences in Ireland. She also teaches Chinese cookery at the Dublin Cookery School, where she introduces students to the traditions and techniques of authentic Chinese cooking.
