Jane Dalton

Address: West Sussex

Jane Dalton is an award-winning journalist who has worked as an editor, a sub-editor, a feature-writer and reporter for some of Britain’s leading media groups including The Sunday Times, The Daily and Sunday Telegraph, the Guardian, the BBC, the Press Association and The Independent, where she still works now. Specialising in coverage of animal welfare and conservation, Dalton is known for her hard-hitting exposés on cruelty. During her early career on local papers, she won or was runner-up in three awards, and interviewed the former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. Two of her short stories have won prizes. 'The Second Life of Anthony B', which examines how married couples talk to one another, raises profound questions about whether any form of consciousness after death is possible. It conveys a positive message about ageing, while life's continuity is symbolised by the beauty of garden birds. It's an unorthodox page-turner that’s perfect for book clubs.
