J. M. O'Neill
J. M. O’Neill (Jerry) (1921-1999) was born in Limerick. He lived most of his adult life in London. He first began to write at the age of sixty-four. His debut novel, Open Cut, portrayed the harsh realities of working as an Irish labourer in London in the postwar years. The book is based on his experience in the London-Irish building trade and the social importance of “the pub” to the Irish-London community at that time. He retired to the west of Ireland.
