Hugh McCormack

Hugh McCormack grew up in Dalkey living beside Shaw’s Cottage on Torca Hill. He believes that George Bernard left a few atoms in the atmosphere for use by subsequent generations. His schooling was in St Conleth’s College in Ballsbridge, where he studied Finance (betting in Kilmartins), Probability (poker hands a speciality), Transport (the No 8 bus to Dalkey) and Art (in the shape of a well pulled pint). He moved on to UCD, answering the call of Economics and Politics. When it proved too exciting for him, he made time to write a racing column for the student mag of the day, tipping many winners. As far as he can remember. Eventually he rejected turf accountancy for the chartered version and spent forty plus years in finance and business, finding that creative writing skills responded to neither debit nor credit. When retirement beckoned in 2019 it was time to get serious about writing; the process has been ruinous for his golf swing. Alicante Adjusters is his first novel. Source: Commons
