Ger Moane
Ger Moane completed a PhD in Psychology at University of California, Berkeley, and took a position as a lecturer in UCD, where she became involved in Women's Studies as well as in Psychology. She was Head of Department from 2002-2005, and Director of the Higher Diploma in Psychology from 2005-2016. She was also an Affiliate with the School of Social Justice. She specialized in human development, gender and sexuality, with an emphasis on diversity, oppression and liberation. She has received numerous grants and awards, including a Fulbright and a Marie Curie award. She trained and has extensive experience in groupwork and counselling with diverse groups. She has published a book, several articles and an edited collection on liberation psychology and diversity, receiving a Distinguished Publication Award in 2010 and a life-time Achievement Award in 2016. Upon taking early retirement in 2016 she completed an MFA in Creative Writing. She continues her work in equality and diversity, especially with the LGBTQ+ community. In 2018 she was producer for Outitude, a documentary on Irish Lesbian Community that received numerous awards. She has published a novel about Newgrange, and several pieces of opinion and creative non-fiction. Source: Commons
