Eamonn Ashe, spent the first twenty-two years of his life growing up in Salthill, Galway. He received his secondary education from the Jesuits at St. Ignatius College, Galway, before going on to graduate from NUIG as a Civil Engineer. For more than thirty years, he ran his own companies specialising in the design and construction of swimming pools and synthetic sports surfaces. He has spent most of his life living in Drogheda, Co. Louth.
