Brendan Moore
was born in the village of Knocklong, Co Limerick in 1966. The youngest of ten children, I grew up in a happy home where storytelling and singing was encouraged. Like most young men I went to college, got a job and settled down. When the recession hit in 2009 I became unemployed I was forced to change my focus. Like all Irish people my culture is steeped in storytelling so I began to write as an escape from my collapsing world. Six years later my first book was finished. The second has taken eighteen months and I am still writing. Listening has been a vital ingredient for my imagination. Always enjoy hearing about people's experiences and this has definitely helped my storytelling. My first book "The Poacher's Curse" was based on stories I heard as a teenager. I was always able to build a scene in my mind as a story was being told and that is how I write. My latest book "Cast a new Shadow" is a story inspired by people who took the boat to England. I am a qualified storyteller but my apprenticeship as a writer continues.
