Prior to writing fiction, Alp Egan worked in medicine. Somewhere in those years a question got under his skin and stayed: when a system saves some people and not others, who’s allowed to ask why? The Survival Index is his attempt to ask it properly — through Defne, a woman trying to learn what happened to her brother from a machine that answers every question except hers. It’s Book One of The Measured World; the second, The Unmeasured, is due to be published in November 2026. Alp Egan writes under a pen name and live in Ireland with his family.
