The book features 136 tunes in total, including unheard melodies from the Goodman manuscripts, collected in the mid-1800s. Many of these tunes sit beautifully on the pipes but have largely disappeared from the modern repertoire. Rather than constantly striving to produce something new, I’ve focused on breathing new life into these old melodies by arranging them in ways that respect the tradition while offering something contemporary. The collection includes modernised 6/8 marches based on 19th-century jigs, a range of airs, reels and hornpipes, and 38 original compositions. Many of the airs also include harmony arrangements, offering added depth and richness for band settings or ensemble performance. I’ve also included over 40 session-friendly tunes that work particularly well on smallpipes, making this a versatile resource for pipers of all types.
