Catherine Flanagan

Dr. Cathy Flanagan earned her B.A. and Ph.D. degrees in psychology at University College Dublin. She was Director of Psychology at St. Patrick's Hospital Dublin before relocating to the U.S. where she completed post-doctoral fellowships at the University of California-Berkeley with Prof. Richard Lazarus and Dr. Aaron Beck at the University of Pennsylvania. Cathy then moved to New York City to work with Dr. Jeffrey Young, founder of Schema Therapy, in developing this new approach. Cathy has presented her ideas in a number of publications and at international conferences. She belongs to the International Society of Schema Therapy, the American Psychological Association and the Psychological Society of Ireland. She is a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and Honorary President of the Schema Therapy Association of Ireland. Her previous book, People and Change, was published by Erlbaum. She currently practices in both New York City and Connecticut.
