Donn McClean is a highly respected commentator on Irish and British horse racing. The recipient of a Martin Wills Award in 1993, Donn began in journalism as the main features writer on racing with the Sunday Independent the same year. He is now the main racing writer with the Sunday Times in Ireland, he writes weekly columns for the Sunday Times and the Irish Field, and he has ghost-written four racing autobiographies. In 2014, 2015 and 2018, he was nominated for the HWPA Racing Writer of the Year award.
Donn is a regular analyst on Racing TV. He has contributed to several racing documentaries, including Jim Bolger: Master of Cool, Mick Kinane: It’s written in the stars, Arkle: The Legend Lives On, Jump Girls and the IFTA-nominated Jump Boys. He does a weekly racing slot on RTE Radio, and he is a regular guest on Newstalk, TV3 and TG4.
